Politics of Morelos

Morelos has a vast array of exceptional benefits and important location advantages on which it builds a productive system that generates wealth, opportunities and wellbeing. The State’s location is truly privileged, with its main economic centers at less than an hour from the country’s largest market: Mexico City and in the center of the Gulf-Pacific highway, adding to an exceptional quality of life, ideal climate, beautiful natural surroundings plus colonial and prehispanic historic centers, complemented by a great variety of educational, cultural and entertainment offers. Outstanding in Morelos are the non-financial services, manufacturing, commerce, tourism services, financial services, transportation and communication; as well as agriculture with an emphasis on sugar cane since the colonial era, corn, beans, rice, onions, tomatoes and squash. The higher regions grow potatoes, oatmeal, broad beans, apples and peaches. In the industrial activities, Morelos has greatly developed during the second half of the 20th century with a vast highway, railway and communication network. The current government’s strategy consists of guiding the Morelos economy towards industries with a higher added value for building production chains and industrial clusters that promote the growth of some consolidated and new companies with great potential through ideal development conditions.
