Demography of Yucatán

Yucatan has a population of 1,818,948 inhabitants registered in the 2005 Census by the INEGI. Yucatan is in 21st place in the country. Thirty-three percent of its population speaks an indigenous language, mainly Mayan. This places Yucatan as one of the status with the most indigenous population. Despite the economic delay many Yucatan counties experience, the life expectancy is 74.6 years and 90% of its population can read.
