Politics of Guanajuato

The State of Guanajuato is known for the high quality of life it offers its citizens and investors with tradition, culture and architectural jewels. This is where Mexico’s War of Independence was born, financially supported by the generous mining deposits of the region. Leon is a city with predominant business tourism, closely linked to congresses and large events. Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende have a greater cultural, monumental and historic tourism flow. The State of Guanajuato has an excellent geographic location within the country, besides taking advantage of a fully developed access infrastructure enabling great intercommunication. Additionally, its most important comparative advantages for success are its excellent weather conditions, optimum access infrastructure, protected natural areas and a cultural center in continuous exchange with the best national and international artists who contribute to its priceless historic, artistic and architectural heritage. The automobile industry started to establish in the entity twenty years ago, for which Guanajuato has hosted complementary investments and is profiled as one of the most solid, integrated and projected production chains in the future. The State of Guanajuato has 295 economic units employing more than 20 thousand workers and generating an added value above 20,300 million pesos, 37.96% of the total manufacturing income. The Coefficient of Sector Specialization for the production of transportation equipment for the State of Guanajuato was 2.1364, the fourth highest in the country, showing a clear trend towards this industry. Guanajuato still plans new challenges for its productive vocation, for which it works towards training a specialized workforce needed at all levels of this industry, thus prompting the development and consolidation of the automobile production chain. This State invests in a first grade infrastructure for supporting the economic activity and works in coordination with education for offering an appropriate workforce.
