Governament of Coahuila

Professor Humberto Moreira Valdez, constitutional governor of the State of Coahuila for 2005-2011, was born in the city of Saltillo in 1966. After graduating as Professor of Elementary Education and having obtained a bachelor’s degree in Higher Education, he began teaching at Escuela Secundaria Técnica “Abel Suarez Leon”. Afterwards, he moved to Mexico City, where he held important posts within the Ministry of Public Education nationwide. Upon his return he became Minister of Public Education for the State of Coahuila in 1999 and founded a technological university in the State’s center region. He was elected mayor for the city of Saltillo for 2003-2005 and on December 1st 2005, he was named constitutional governor of Coahuila with the purpose to prompt a good, innovative, honest, dynamic and austere government in contact with the people, enabling a clear, modern, inclusive and professional public management.
