Governament of Yucatán

Ivonne Aracelly Ortega Pacheco was born on November 26, 1972. She has been an active member of Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) and has been City Mayor, Local Deputy, Federal Deputy and Senator for Yucatan. She is the second woman governor in Mexico but the first in Yucatan. Ivonne Aracelly Ortega Pacheco has had various posts within PRI structure in Yucatan, especially Leader of Revolutionary Youth Front and President of the Commission for Women’s Integration. In 1998 she was elected City Mayor of Dzemul, Yucatan, her hometown. In 2001 she was elected Deputy for the Congress of Yucatan and in 2003 Federal Deputy fore the II Federal Electoral District of Yucatan during the LIX Legislature and in 2006, Senator for the first minority of the State of Yucatan. In Senate she worked as Secretary of the Board of Directors, manifesting her intention to run as candidate to the Government of Yucatan and she was granted leave of absence from her duties as Senator. She was named Governor of the State of Yucatan on August 1, 2007 for the term 2007-2013.
