The Nayarit "National Employment Service" has among its objectives to serve as an job enrollment agent, to promote self-employment, and to provide labor training and certification, and it also offers various programs to the community including scholarships, projects for "Productive Investment", enrollment events such as employment fairs, strategies towards formal employment, programs for the agricultural day-laborers, as well as permanent employment agencies through offices or posting vacancies via its Web Site at www.empleo.nayarit.gob.mx .
During the year 2007, Nayarit became the state with the highest number of newly born affiliates to the New Social Security system, thanks in part to the support from the National Health Plan of Mexican president Felipe Calderon. On the regional side, governor Gonzalez is aiming at providing full health coverage throughout the state by the year 2008, a realistic objective as the present rate already reaches 90% .
The massive migration of the state population into the United States represents another issue of vital importance for the Nayarit society, and in view of the high number of locals currently residing in the neighboring country, the present administration established the "Nayarit House" in Santa Ana, California, a building located north of the Rio Bravo which actually provides many services as if it were in Mexican soil, regarding the processing of legal and official Mexican documents and other formalities such as paying property taxes for Mexican homes, Mexican birth certifications, change of plates, and so on. In the same fashion, the celebration of the Second Nayarit Fair in California during the summer of 2007 and which includes Nayarit folklore and cuisine, contributes to strengthening the ties between the emigrants and their places of origin.
