Governament of Michoacán

Lic. Leonel Godoy, Constitutional Governor for the State of Michoacan for the term 2008-2012, was born in the city of Lazaro Cardenas, Michoacan, on June 5, 1950. He has a Law Degree from Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolas de Hidalgo, majoring on Penitentiary Science at UNAM. He has a Master’s Degree on Law from UNAM, a Master’s Degree on Criminology from INACIPE and a Doctorate Degree on Law from UNAM. He was Attorney General for the State of Michoacan, Government Secretary for the State of Michoacan, Subsecretary of State for Distrito Federal, Government Secretary fro Distrito Federal, Public Safety Secretary for Distrito Federal and Government Secretary for the State of Michoacan. He has occupied the legislative posts of Federal Deputy for the LIV Legislature (1988-1991), Federal Deputy for the LVI Legislature (1994-1997) and Senator for the State of Michoacan (2006-2007). Within his party, Partido de la Revolución Democrática (PRD) he has been President of the National Executive Committee, Representative before the Federal Election Institute (1996-1997) and National Counsil since the foundation of PRD.
