Born on July 1966 at Atlacomulco, Estado de Mexico, Governor Enrique Peña Nieto has a Law Degree from Universidad Panamericana and a Master’s Degree on Business Administration from Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM). In 1984 he joined Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) and his first post by public election was Local Deputy in 2001. From 2003 to 2004, he coordinated PRI’s parliamentary group at the Chamber of Deputies in Estado de Mexico, as well as a post as Secretary of Government Management for Estado de Mexico during the term of his predecessor, Arturo Montiel. On September 15, 2005 he was named Governor of Estado de Mexico for the term 2005-2011, swearing his commitment to work towards a more efficient government in the distribution of goods and services, respectful of people’s rights, freedom and guarantees by optimizing public resources and being transparent in its information.
