Zeferino Torreblanca Galindo was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, on March 14, 1954. A few days later, his family returned to their home in Acapulco, Guerrero. He got his degree in Public Accounting in the State of Nuevo León, at Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey. Afterwards, he moved to England were he continued studying Business Administration and Finance.
He became in charge of the family businesses since young, in the convenience store industry, and was an important part of Canaco and Coparmex business associations in Acapulco.
In 1994 he was named Federal Deputy for Partido de la Revolución Democrática (PRD). In 1999 he triumphed in the election process that named him Mayor of Acapulco. In 2004 he won PRD’s internal elections for being nominated to contend for Governor and on February 2005 he was elected Constitutional Governor of the State of Guerrero for the administration 2005-2011.
