Where to Go / What to Do in Puerto Peñasco

At Puerto Peñasco, 100 kilometers of fine and calm beaches offer tourists the right place to relax and enjoy good fishing at the rocky archipelago of San Jorge Island, with an abundance of grouper, sawfish, red porgy, sailfish and horse mackerel. This port celebrates important tourism tournaments managed by Desarrollos Turísticos de Peñasco and another called "“La Choya Bay Club"”. Also, its warm waters allow practicing diving around the small islets near the bay.

BEACHES AND BAYS
The peaceful beaches of Cortes Sea and the excellent tourism infrastructure of Puerto Peñasco allow practicing an endless number of water, sports and recreation activities that will no doubt convince you of returning to this beautiful tourist destination. Practice sailing, motorcycling, swimming, diving and jet skiing; or if you prefer, simply kayaking. Enjoy a relaxing golf game or fly a colorful kite at the beach. If you want to live a unique experience, then you can snorkel with sea wolfs or observe whales and dolphins.

RESERVA DE LA BIOSFERA EL PINACATE
Volcanic and desert region of 715 thousand hectares, it is an object of scientific research and family recreation. Despite being extremely arid, this zone hosts 554 species of flora, mainly saguaros, ocotillo, gobernadora and choyas; 237 bird species as the golden eagle and red-tailed falcon; 49 species of reptiles and amphibians and 41 species of native mammals.

The volcanic region is formed by millenary craters as McDougal, Badilla, Molina, Caravajales, Cerro Colorado and Volcan Grande.

Also, the history of prehispanic human settlements corresponds to the tribe of Papago Indians, whose legacy has left many traces of their rites and ceremonies at Pinacate.
