If its your first time to visit the city, or you simply want to enjoy the colonial architecture exhibited at the San Marcos Cathedral, constructed by the Dominican friars in 1560; the old presidential court with its unique architectural ¨neocolonial¨ style; or admire the Monument of the Flag that is 25 meters high and covered in engraved prehispanic inspirations; then go to the Plaza de las Marimbas to dance with the musical regional group and then take the ¨tranvia¨ called El Tuxtlequito, which takes you to the principal surrounding attractions of the Chiapas capital.

"“Miguel Álvarez del Toro"” ZOOMAT ZOO
Zoomat is the most popular zoo of Latin America due to the extensive protection and conservation labor and the abundant flora and fauna. It is also a space that allows visitors to tour through a medium sized tropical jungle similar to the original habitat of the biodiversity of Chiapas, where some of the species run free, such as the Saraguato monkey. Other animals, for their specific characteristics, require their protection, like the nocturnal animals, and the serpent and snakes that live in other facilities.

It has guided service tours and nocturnal visits. It also has other facilities for visitors such as restaurants, restrooms, parking lot and medical office.

Located inside the ecological reserve El Zapotal. Open to the public Tuesday through Sunday from 8:30 to 4:00.

CHIAPAS REGIONAL MUSEUM
Located on Calzada de los Hombre Ilustres, in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, this museum of modern infrastructure carries the history of the state of Chiapas. The exhibition begins the historic tale from 10,000 b.C. when it is believed that man came to these lands, and has art and prehispanic objects from the zoques and Mayan tribes of the region.

They open to the public at 9:00am until 16:00.

Casa de las Artesanias.
Chiapas is one of the states with the greatest amount of local ethnic groups, which translates into highly varied crafts products. That is why Casa de las Artesanias functions as a center for exhibiting and marketing the state's wide array of crafts. It has an interesting ethnographic museum showing the entity's multiple ethnic groups.

La Marimba Garden Park was founded in 1993 for rescuing the ancient family traditions of sharing the outdoors. This park is named after the most popular and characteristic of this region's musical instruments. Its design offers colonial style benches and a central kiosk where musical shows are offered with marimba players from around the state.
